Former Republican State Senator Dave Durenberger dead at 88 – MPR News


Former Republican State Senator Dave Durenberger has died at 88 years old.
Durenberger was born in St. Cloud and won a special election in 1978 to become a U.S. Senator. He served in the Senate until 1995.
Durenberger was known for his expertise on health care policy and remained focused on health care issues after he left the Senate.
Tom Horner, a former Republican strategist who worked for Senator Durenberger both as press secretary and chief of staff, joined host Cathy Wurzer to talk about Durenberger’s life and legacy.
