EU States Seek Clarity on Plan to Make Big Tech Pay for Web Use – Bloomberg Law

Six countries have sent a letter to the European Commission asking for a debate before it moves ahead with plans for rules to make streaming sites such as Netflix Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s YouTube pay telecom operators for traffic over their networks.
Austria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands also want the European Union’s policy-making body to firm up a timeline for the proposed rules and publish next steps and analysis, according to a letter seen by Bloomberg News on Thursday.
